Reinventing the notion of DIY screen printing.
Imprint is designed for easy, high-quality DIY screen printing. The printing apparatus accommodates the silk printing screen within its physical envelope for accurate and repeatable prints, whether single screen or multicoloured multi-screen.

Portable + Robust.
The Imprint rig is comprised of a single part steel structure added to a timber platen, which in turn allows for screen-printed registration markings for artwork and print setup. The platen is elevated to ensure the print is applied to only one side of the garment.
The folded sheet metal chassis provides a robust structure for the rig through a series of considered and refined edge folds, while its symmetrical design allows users to register the screen within either the left or right lower pocket. The design also provides safety for storage and protection of the screen’s edges, and is free of moving parts, allowing it to be easily stored and transported.

Multi-use.
Imprint is intended to be used within both formal and informal educational courses to teach the art of screen printing and to provide an ongoing means of practicing the activity. Formal educational applications include usage within primary and secondary schools, arts and technical colleges, and universities, whilst potential informal users include hobbyists, screen printing groups, and developing communities.

Iterative design.
Given the mechanical nature of Imprint, a number of physical prototypes and design solutions were developed in order to arrive at a structurally suitable and commercially viable solution.
