Clinical partnership.
From ikkiworks comes ikki, a robotic penguin designed to help children, parents and clinicians dealing with childhood leukaemia. ikki uses software and sensors that deliver medication alerts for the child, as well as providing clinically-relevant information the medical team can download, and improve the child’s treatment program accordingly. ikki’s beak acts as a thermometer and breathing regulator, while its stomach doubles as an interactive entertainment system playing stories, sounds or music.
ikkiworks partners with the clinical oncology team at Westmead Children’s Hospital, who use ikki with their patients. ikki also won the Best in Class award in 2018’s Good Design Awards from Good Design Australia.
