Aeroponic vegetables for high-rise apartment living.
Designed for a hypothetical high-rise mega city, Alimento (so named after the Spanish word for food/nourishment) is a means of cultivating herbs, fruits and vegetables within an apartment where outside space is limited.
Aeroponic's.
The aeroponic system removes the need for soil, with growth facilitated via nutrient-enriched air created through water vapour. Roots hang from the top surface and are sprayed periodically.
Modularity.
The Alimento consists of nine aeroponic pods, a top cap, base unit which houses the water reservoir, central pumping system and small access door for topping up water. The modular design provides flexibility, making it suitable for small and larger spaces, as well as families, couples or individuals.
